8. D is for: Doll - Branding The American Girl
Having an American Girl Doll was probably one of every girl’s dream growing up! Some were lucky enough to get one (or multiple) and others maybe were lucky enough to get the off-brand version. Either way, the doll, the accessories, were worth hours of play.
For those of you who are familiar with the American Girl brand, you know that each doll has its own unique features and background from a different time period in history.
In this episode, we take a look at the dolls we had growing up, and design a brand that would fit each of them if Rebecca were designing it all over again in today’s time.
In this episode Rebecca & Abby share:
- Memories of playing with American Girl products and their knowledge of what they remember their doll’s brand to be
- Taking a brand that was meant for past times in American history and updating it to what we know today
- What the American Girl doll’s brand stands for
- Rebecca shares how she uses a visual concept for the messaging and branding the her designs
